Wayne Parnell

Wayne Parnell

The retirement of Jacques Kallis presented Wayne Parnell with an opportunity to make his mark on South Africa’s one-day side. A talented junior, Parnell played representative cricket through his teen years before captaining South Africa’s under-19 World Cup team in 2008. He finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, with 18 wickets at an average of 8.38. The left-handed allrounder’s first men’s international appearance came in 2009, when he took nine wickets at the ICC World T20 and made his one-day international debut against Australia the same year.  Injuries and inconsistent form have seen Parnell move in and out of South Africa's line-up throughout his career.

Took a hat-trick in only his fifth first-class match, playing for Eastern Province against Western Province.
